What You Know

Let's go out and paint the town any color that you want
It's been a while since we did it in style - I just haven't been around
So how've you been? How've you been keeping since I've been away?
Did you place your bets.? Are the odds all set on how long I'll stay.
Have you been keeping the lights on for me
-keeping that candle light shining on this heart of mine?
Tales to tell, saying "Well, it's a funny old world."
And, oh my lord, , did you hear me calling when I had no place left to turn
Did you play your hand - how did they land?
Did you play diamonds or hearts?
Before I go won't you let me know how you tell the two apart?
Have you been keeping the lights on for me
-keeping that candle light shining on this heart of mine?
Heaven help us if it ever hits the fan - man oh man now don't you know
Heaven, d'you think that it could ever get that bad - don't answer that.
And I know you know me too well to take what I say
and leave it down before you've found a place for it to stay
So next time 'round, you be the clown and I'll stay at home
Because we both say, on different days;
"I want to know what you know"

I believe I'm leaving here far from winter chill
You see me unfold my wings on your window sill
maybe take a photograph, then I'm gone
Singing my song for you
I'm leaving here for you
I will fly for you
I'm leaving here for you
I will fly
Rising high into the sky high above the ground
wind and rain against my wings the only sound
Rising high into the night until the air's gone
Still I sing my song for you
I'm leaving here for you
I will fly for you
I'm leaving here for you
I will fly
I flay among stars
I fly across the sun in the heather
I fly my way back to your window
I'm calling'
"It's me again - how've you been?"
I've flown among stars
I've flown across the sun in the heather
I've flown my way back to your window
I'm calling'
I've flown among stars
I've flown my way back to your window
I'm calling'
"It's me again - how've you been?"

Avenues & Streets

If i keep forgetting the last line then I'll have a song about nothing.
Avenues and streets - we seek and find where
yesterday comes 'round again next week
And the chapel bell gives the neighbors hell and morning is mine again
And the angels tread and people, they hurry, and factory wheel s go 'round
The papers stand and wave in the wind
The widow's curls fall loose
and the butcher smiles from behind his knives and says
"Looks like rain again"
And the playground din rolls in on a breeze - tomorrow's young things
I have found a seat for today at least, and yesterday comes 'round again
And the chapel bell gives the neighbors hell and morning is mine again
And the angels tread and people, they hurry, and factory wheel s go 'round
If i keep forgetting the last line then I'll have a song about nothing.
Avenues and streets - we seek and find where
yesterday comes 'round again next week
