I was cleaning the house one day when the opening guitar riff came into my head. I knew it was one of those "drop-everything" kind of moments or else I would lose the idea.
Once i had the riff under my fingers, the first line jumped out at me, I had no idea where this song was going, so I just kind of followed it, one line after another until I got to the end. It's a rare occurrence when that happens, and I'm glad I dropped everything when I did. I hope you like it.
lyrics
My Morning Star
The cover blew onto the sand from her chilly fingered hand on a bright blue morning- the kind she'd waited for
They dipped into the water, cut through the waves together.
"You are my friend " she said, " lead me out beyond the Head, and I'll love you forever. I love you, my Morning Star"
Under the teacup waiting, a letter on the table. From kitchen window's glow the daylight skimmed it over.
A note for anyone to see. A tale as true as it was brief:
"To you and all my friends: I love you all.until the end, but I'm gone out beyond the Head. Nothing to say we haven't said"
The cold air curled around her heart.
The seagulls' cry from oh so high above was to her ears a song of love.
A lonely eye skimmed over sunset's horizon from the sand and with the back of his hand, wiped a tear away.
He heard the whistling wind and smiled. Words rose up from deep inside. Out on the air they sailed . Over the ocean waves."I'll see you in the Morning Star. I'll always know just where you are. Lead me out beyond the Head. It's all been done. It's all been said.
Twas on a bright blue morning. The kind she'd waited for.
