about

I had the guitar riff first, and just took it from there, While recording at Dave's h pointed me to a six string banjo in the corner. Seemed to fit really well, i thought.

lyrics

I'm almost through
I can see the blue of the sky up above
Another push, another shove
Hands of dirt, feet of clay
I hope the wind don't change - I don't wanna stay this way
But I'm almost through. I'm black and blue, but I'm almost through

Down below I met a man
He Had a ring on every finger, had a heart in every hand
He said 'It ain't me - it's your damned TV..
All the news is just lies. The only truth is in your eyes,
but you're almost through, you're black and blue.man, what you been doing?"

So I got on up - climbed on through
Found some teeth left in a smile, a hunk of rope and a glass eye.
and a holy man, and his drunken wife, said
"We've salvation every day. On weekends there's a matinee, and
you're almost through. You're black and blue, boy, look at you."

You're almost through. You're black and blue.

Now the road don't move.
It just stays where it's at
But it looks at you and says "Get your coat. Tie your shoes.
where's your hat?"
And the man in the moon, oh he smiles and he says
"You people just make me laugh- someday I'd like to take a photograph"

You're almost through. You're black and blue, but you're almost through.
Yeah, you're almost through.
